A plebiscite for Dogecoin (DOGE)? After Elon Musk, it’s Emmanuel Macron’s turn to show his love for the canine altcoin. The President of the Republic has indeed confirmed that he wanted his European metaverse project to be based on the DOGE. We decipher this surprising choice.
Will Macron’s ‘European metaverse’ use Dogecoin?
Two weeks ago, outgoing President Emmanuel Macron belatedly lifted the veil on his political project, with a new program for the 2022 presidential election. There was a mention of a “European metaverse” , which was particularly commented on by the crypto-community.
Rather focused on the development of technologies that support virtual universes and the metaverse, the project nevertheless had the effect of placing the word a second time in the electoral campaign . The candidate of the Republicans Valérie Pécresse had indeed already mentioned the subject – in a negative way – last February.
The canine altcoin as a pillar of the European strategy?
Now launched in the middle of the presidential campaign, Emmanuel Macron seems to have gone further. Speaking yesterday in front of players in the digital industry, he confirmed his plans for the European metaverse project , stressing once again the need for informational independence on the continent:
“ The cultural and informational independence of Europe will necessarily pass through a European metaverse. […] In order not to depend on Anglo-Saxon or Chinese players, the latter will have to be based on an independent and decentralized digital currency . »
Asked about the digital currency he wanted to favor, Emmanuel Macron answered bluntly:
“ We are currently studying several avenues with regard to cryptocurrencies. We have observed with interest the integration of Dogecoin by Mr. Musk’s company, and for the moment it is the digital currency that seems to us the most suitable . »
The Dogecoin therefore seems to have the favor of Emmanuel Macron . We still have few details on the integration of the altcoin, but we know that the entire metaverse will apparently be based on DOGE transactions. Dogecoin operating with proof of work, it will be up to the States to ensure that they maintain at least one mining farm per government , in order to decentralize the network on the territory.
For the memecoin, it is of course a plebiscite. Within a few years, it went from a nearly forgotten joke to the future currency of space . And it is now becoming a key tool on which the European metaverse project will be based… News that is almost too big to be true, if the date is to be believed . So don’t rush to the DOGE before checking your calendar!
